Concrete Driveway Installation in Phoenix, AZ
New and replacement concrete driveways and driveway extensions for Phoenix homes, built on a solid base so they last.
Licensed Phoenix, Arizona General Contractor - ROC 367058 (R-62)
What's included
- Removal of old concrete, pavers or gravel
- Grading and a compacted base
- Forms set for proper slope and drainage
- Rebar or wire as the job calls for
- Pour, broom finish and control joints
- Curing and clean-up
Common problems I see in Phoenix homes
- Cracked and sunken old driveway
- Water pooling toward the garage
- Edges breaking off at the street
- Caliche or clay making the base settle
Phoenix soil ranges from caliche to expansive clay, and summer slab temperatures pass 150 F. Good base prep, control joints and curing (especially keeping fresh concrete from drying too fast in the heat) are what make concrete last here. City or HOA rules may apply to driveways and work near the street.
How I approach concrete driveway installation
Base prep decides how long a driveway lasts. I dig out soft soil, compact the base, slope for drainage and cut control joints so cracks go where they should. In summer I pour early and keep the slab damp so it does not dry too fast.
Code note: Driveway approaches and work near the street usually need a city right-of-way permit. I will tell you if your job needs one.
